You Spin Me Right Round, Baby, Right Round!*

Okay, so now you know that I love 80's music and everyone who knows me knows I love ice cream. Heck this is my second post on the cool concoction in two days. So I guess now all my secrets are out!

While browsing Room Service Home recently I found the most ridiculously unnecessary must-have for summer. Hot days filled with melting ice cream in a cone are not far off. How do you save yourself the trouble of sticky fingers + a tired tongue? The Spinning Cone is your answer!

Claiming to be the cone for "lazy lickers," this plastic cone spins for you allowing you to effortlessly lap up the frozen treat. I bet kids would really get a kick out of it but I for one prefer cones of the caloric kind.

In other ice cream news, today Baskin Robbins is offering 31cent scoops from 5-10pm. If you need your ice cream fix, seems this is the week to do it. But be warned the limit is a whopping 10 scoops her person! By donating $100,000 Baskin Robbins dedicates the night to The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and you can make donations as well at your local shop as well.

Cukoo For Coco

Different Like Coco by Elizabeth Matthews is a beautifully illustrated book detailing the life of fashion icon, Coco Chanel. I think it is great that the children's biography section has expanded beyond the presidents and is hopefully encouraging young readers. I can imagine some of the pages framed in a little girls' room too! Great reading for young fashionistas (although I want to get my hands on one of these myself).

Woodn't You Know!

Apparently Martha and I share a love for faux bois. While browsing the latest Martha Stewart Living I found an ad for her new collaboration with 1-800-flowers. Not only are the arrangements themselves lovely but the containers really have me drooling! The ceramic faux bois vases are so unique and would definitely be reused! I am tempted to order myself an arrangement just for the container but I'd hold out hope that I may get one as a gift. Speaking of, these would make perfect tokens of affection for Mother's Day (right around the corner!).

Twist & Spout!

It's the time of year where my watering plants is incorporated into my daily routine. I just came across the Twist and Spout at re:modern. I love how it allows you to repurpose something that otherwise would be seen as trash. The garden spout turns a bottle into a watering can and the kitchen spout allows for easy handling of 2 liter bottles.

Debbie emailed: I love your style. A while back you showed a set of tableware with a fleur de lis on a white background. I'm looking for a set of white dinnerware with a starfish imprint on it. (Just like the fleur de lis but a starfish) Can you help?

Coveiter happily responds: With summer around the corner, it is no surprise that readers are wanting to incorporate beachy items into their decor. While we did our absolute best to find the exact same dinnerware but with a starfish, even the Coveiter girls have no luck sometimes! Though our finds are not identical to the product we featured, we think these are pretty close and definitely classic and stylish enough for any table. Another option: use plain white pieces and use starfish accents. Hope this helps! Best of luck!

Ham it up!

This time of year I want to spend as much time outdoors as possible to enjoy the mild temperatures and cool breezes before the southern heat kicks in. Right now I am really dreaming of one of these amazing hammocks to enjoy the outdoors on. A glass of lemonade, a good book/magazine, birdies chirping, laid back tunes on the ipod, or a sun-soaking nap all sound fabulous. These days the hammock has evolved into an outdoor bed which has only furthered my desire. Check these bad boys out while I am back to my regularly scheduled daydreaming.

Jellies Steal

Remember when Julie posted about Jellies at J.Crew? I have been coveting a pair ever since. But since I'd probably wear them on rainy days mostly, I couldn't justify spending much on them. Well, Saturday was my lucky day. I love designer shoes as much as the next girl, but on this day I was browsing the shoe aisle at Target and found pairs of ballet jellies in black, red and clear for only $2.24. No, your eyes don't deceive you! You can bet I snatched up a pair. And honestly, there really cannot be that much difference between shoes made of plastic right? They are available online for $7.99 which is still a good deal but for a price you surely can't pass up, run over to your local store.

Bon Voyage

I'm heading out of town for a week. Hubby and I will be going the DC/VA area to relax, shop and meet and mingle with friends and family. Provided we will have Internet, I'll be popping in a bit to document and highlight some of our trip. In the meantime, Lindsey will be entertaining you with great posts, a great interview and even a contest! Oh, and the pic above? Well, that was from my last trip there, back in 95. Yep, it's been a while and I'm long overdue.

I really love seahorses but am very unlucky at finding clothing, accessories or even just little tidbits that have these cute little creatures on them! I am hoping you can help me find something.

Coveiter happily responds:
Seahorses are very cute critters. Of course who wouldn't love an animal where the male has the babies (except maybe, ahem, males!). We rounded up some seahorse finds that will get you started on your quest. Be sure to check out Old Navy stores too, they have some seahorse tanks and jewelry that are not available online. Enjoy!

Yum, Yum, Yum!

I got a delightful surprise in the mail this week. My great sister-in-law, who obviously reads the blog sent me a birthday treat of Fat Daddy Cupcakes in a Jar. I wish I could describe the excitement that ensued. Of course I broke out the camera for proper documentation and then the fork. Too.yummy.for.words! She selected the Envy cupcake and the Banana Butterscotch Bad Boy. Wowee, are they good. I have sampled both and let me tell you: definitely worth ordering. In fact I am trying to find a good excuse to get more myself. Throw into the mix super cute packaging and I'm sold. So here it is, my unsolicited vouch for Fat Daddy Bake Shop* and my advice to try them for yourself!

Thanks again, Jenny! They were a perfect gift.

*Upon drooling over their site while working on this post I noticed Fat Daddy Bake Shop has changed its name to: Bangerang Bake Shop. Same product, people, recipes, etc. Just a new name.

French General

I'm in love with this store. They sell lots of tidbits and trinkets and kits and little lovelies they call notions. Vintage German glass glitter. Old French metal sequins. Pressed glass flowers. Italian hand-beaded tassels circa 1920. Old milk glass petal pins. 1940s silk ribbon from Paris. All perfect for crafting, and it makes me want to go out and embellish...everything!

Offerings: Original Art, Prints, ACEOs and Buttons

To say I love vol25's work is a understatement. I ordered 2 of her prints last week (more on that later). Too.cute.for.words. pretty much sums it up.

Jess has a brand spankin' new blog that is wonderful, too. Check it out!

Children's Cookbook Collection Part Two

Here is part two of my Children's Cookbook collection. I hope you are enjoying the wonderful illustrations as much as I do!

A Child's First Cook Book by Alma S. Lach has some really simple illustrations with one color accents that epitomize vintage drawings.

Better Homes Junior Cook Book is filled with cute sketches but my favorite part of this book is the typography. I love the way the type perfectly accents the recipe at hand.

Another favorite of mine (that seems to be a trend in books of this time) is the illustrated ingredient list. Being a visual person it delights my eye to see all the components in a graphic form.

Stayed tuned for the final installment of my collection.

Reader Sandra emailed:
Hello, I just found your website and I love it!
So my handbag question is this--For some odd reason, all of the stylish tote bags are so heavy when they are empty that by the time I put everything and the kitchen sink (and yes, I need that too) in one, it triples the weight! I do like medium/large bag. I don't mind if it's made of fabric--just so it's strong and lovely! Any ideas for Spring/Summer light weight totes that don't cost a mint?

Coveiter happily responds:
There are plenty of cute lightweight totes out there. Look for a tote made of lightweight but sturdy cotton, straw, jute, or leather. Here are some of our favorites to help you in your search. Let us know what you decide!

Love Mugs

Remember those love pillowcases I blogged about? Well I found them in the states. Not only that, but look at the adorable matching mugs! Love them!

Top Row: Hand-blown & Recycled Glass Bedside Carafe, Recycled Beak Vase, Recycled Felt Coasters

Middle Row:  Moss Recycled Glass Jewelry, Recycled Tire Coasters, Recycled Glass Bottle Necklacesicon, Recycled Windshield Wine Glasses

gDiapers

Have you heard about the new eco-friendly diaper alternative on the market? They are called gDiapers and they super stylish and very earth friendly. They consist of a washable, cotton outer pant and a flushable refill that is plastic free. Plastic free means if you can't flush them, you can throw them away or toss them into your garden compost. They will break down in 50-150 days. That's much quicker than the 500 years a disposable diaper takes. gDiapers also offers a wonderful autoship service, which means you can have the flushable refills delivered to your door automatically - as often as needed. What a stylish and guiltless way to diaper your babies!
