Green Chic

Carrie with Sourcebooks sent us a copy of Green Chic: Saving the Earth in Style after its launch and I was super excited to give it a read through while on vacay. I am thrilled that the stigma that being green requires wearing hemp, eating grass and living circa 1890 is slowly disappearing. Books like this one truly prove that you can in fact be chic while doing your part for Mother Earth.

Christie Matheson keeps the book light and user-friendly explaining the reasons our actions can be harmful to the planet. Once you know how your actions (or lack thereof) affect the world we live in it is even easier to be receptive of ways to make it better! She provides plenty of easy solutions that you can implement immediately to do your part. She offers small steps that require only changes in action and builds up to ways you can make an even bigger difference with a little more time and money.

The thing I enjoyed most about this book is that I didn't feel scolded or talked down to. No fussing like I was single handedly ruining our home and drastic measures must be taken immediately. It was like hearing a girl friend give me tips on makeup or a new outfit. In a straightforward way, Christie gives pointers that she's tried herself and will vouch for. I am eager to put her ideas and suggestions into action.

I'm no mathematician/scientest but if every Coveiter reader would take just ONE step towards being more eco-conscious (use one less water bottle, turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth, etc.) imagine the change we'd make! Small steps can lead to big things! Pick up the book for ideas on how you can get started in the right direction.
