How was your 4th? Hubs and I celebrated in San Antonio, Texas. We had a great time! Before I recap though, I've got Asheville to share!
The last weekend in June, we went to Asheville, North Carolina for a wedding and a bit of sightseeing. We toured the Biltmore, the Conservatory, the Winery, dined at the Bistro at the Winery, drove to the Inn at the Biltmore Estates, drove the Blue Ridge Parkway, enjoyed a sweet bite at the Grove Park Inn and toured the downtown area. We ate at the famous Tupelo Honey Café. And oh was it good!! I definitely recommend the Eggs Crawley - 2 fried eggs, 2 crab cakes + asparagus with hollandaise sauce.
We stayed at the Renaissance in a $204 king corner room that we Pricelined for $85! I was hugely sceptical about Priceline, but after a ton of hotel research and realizing that we would be happy to stay at any of the 3 star options in Asheville, we gave it a shot. Here's a peek at our wonderful room.
And here's a glimpse at the famous Biltmore - America's largest home. A home that George Vanderbilt purchased 125,000 acres of land for. It has 4 acres of floor space, 250 rooms, 34 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms and 65 fireplaces.
This is the view from the back veranda. For perspective, look at the size of the people taking in the view. Yes, the home is this huge.
After, hubs and I ordered a Heath Bar Chocolate Torte and sipped wine while we enjoyed the views from the lower terrace of the Grove Park Inn.
Although we were there just short time, I think we fit a ton in. And, despite all we did, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable time in Asheville.
